Because the cat loves to sleep on the bed

Posted on 2nd August 201911th November 2019

Whoever has one or more cats, in the evening, goes first to sleep on the sofa rather than to move their furry little friends from their beds: but why do cats really love being on the big bed instead of in their bunks?

Cat and bed are an inseparable pair, so much so that those lucky enough to live with one or more felines find themselves drafting cat-shaped under the bedspread in the evening, or in the middle of the night dealing with a pretty, but despotic furball with a mustache that is not only placed on the mattress, but that occupies most of the space. Resigned, the owners can only acknowledge the umpteenth conquest of the bed by the feline and sleep in a small corner. Not to mention the awakening, when among the many household chores there is that of bed making. No cat can resist the call of pillows and sheets fluttering, so that, shrewd and fast, it slips in lightning, so as to fit perfectly between the bottom sheet and the one above. But where does the love of cats for the bed of humans come from?

Cats and bed, because of this love

The cat loves being too much on the bed and the explanation is much simpler than one might think: it is its nature. Even if we masters see it as a softball of fluffy fur, the cat is a predatory animal, very curious and a great explorer. The feline likes the bed very much because he is taller than his bunk, which is why he climbs on it and starts checking all the surrounding environment to spot prey and keep dangers under control.

This would be a valid explanation, were it not for a gap: the cat sleeps there. In fact, after noticing the lack of dangers and prey to catch, the cat gives itself a well-deserved rest in a warm and soft shelter. The bed for cats is like a cardboard box, or rather a protective one, and is also more comfortable. Furthermore, between cushions and bedspreads, you can hide in the blink of an eye. And if there are masters, his level of security increases, as well as being at hand to “make bread” or to nibble affectionately, or to ask for food, attention, etc.

What to do with a cat that sleeps on the bed

You can try placing your bunk in the bedroom, but the owners have to resign themselves to the fact that the feline will climb onto the bed, so much so that he will wait for the owners to fall asleep to enter furtively. And then, in winter, who better than cats as natural warmers and excellent sources of pampering! Nothing to do, those who love cats must also count on sleeping with them all together in one bed.
